One-to-One Counselling and Psychotherapy

  • Help in dealing with those persistent feelings of apprehension, unease, nervousness or dread, often accompanied by physical tension in your body and/or avoidant behaviour.

  • We can work together on feelings of sadness, emptiness, hopelessness or loss of motivation that is significantly disrupting your daily functioning and well-being.

  • Patient and empathic support in working through the unresolved trauma that may have left you feeling stuck, overwhelmed or disconnected, as past experiences continue to impact your emotional well-being and daily life.

  • Compassionate support for anyone who is an adult adoptee, those who have adopted children or anyone involved in fostering.

  • A safe space for anyone struggling with infertility or pregnancy loss.

  • Stress is the body’s natural physical and mental response to external pressure and demands - helpful in short bursts but harmful when it becomes persistent and overwhelming for you.

  • Grief is a natural emotional response to losing someone or something very important to you -marked by deep sorrow, shock and a range of intense feelings which sometimes needs support to walk through.

  • Understanding and empowerment to work through the constant presence of self-doubt, fear of judgement or failure, or difficulty asserting yourself in relationships, work and other daily situations .

  • A safe and accepting space to explore your own spirituality and work through any past negative experiences.

Sometimes life weighs heavier than expected. Whether you are facing anxiety, grief, low self-esteem or feeling overwhelmed and stressed - you are not alone and don’t have to figure it all out by yourself.

One-to-one therapy offers a safe, confidential space where you can come first, be truly heard and work on what matters to you, at your own pace.

What can you talk about?

The short answer is anything! Everything is welcome here - your thoughts, feelings, fears, dreams, anger, hope, numbness… there is no ‘right’ topic for psychotherapy. This is about what you need.

What you can expect from N.E.W Therapy Centre

It can be nerve-wracking starting therapy for the first time. You might be wondering what to expect - will it be awkward, uncomfortable, scary or just a bit weird!?

When you arrive you will be offered a comforting drink, a relaxed atmosphere and a warm welcome. You will have some space to share what’s on your mind, why you have come and what you are needing. From there we will decide together what happens next. There are no rules, expected number of sessions or ways to do it… we will work it out together.

As well as talking, my therapeutic approaches may include: mindfulness, relaxation techniques, somatic work, creative techniques and play-work, but nothing will happen that you don’t want to do, so please don’t worry.

Individual Counselling FAQs

How do I know if I need therapy?

If you are feeling overwhelmed, stuck or just not like yourself, therapy can be a helpful space to explore what’s going on. You don’t need to have a crisis to benefit - many people come to therapy simply to understand themselves better, improve relationships or to navigate life’s changes and challenges. If you are here wondering about it, that’s usually a good sign that it might be worth trying.

How long does counselling take?

There is no set time-line - therapy is a personal journey and everyone’s path looks a little different. Some people come for a short time to work through something specific, while others stay much longer to explore deeper patterns or ongoing challenges. We will go at a pace that feels comfortable to you, and we’ll check in along the way to make sure you are getting what you need.

Is counselling confidential?

Absolutely! This is a private and confidential space, where you can talk freely and be reassured that it is strictly between us. Of course there are some exceptions - like if anyone is at risk of serious harm - but I will always explain all of this clearly at the start so there will be no surprises. Your trust matters, and creating a safe space for you is my top priority.

How do I schedule my first session?

The easiest way is to fill in the form on the contact page or just press one of our many ‘get in touch’ buttons. I try to respond to enquiries quickly - usually within 24 hours - as I understand that waiting for a reply can sometimes be difficult.
